Docks Beers to host Mental Health Awareness events
Mental Health Awareness week is the 9th-15th of May and seeks to break the stigma of mental health through support and conversation.
Docks Beers have posted to social media showcasing three events in unison with the awareness week, focusing on loneliness.
On social media, they said “Loneliness is affecting more and more of us and has had a huge impact on our physical and mental health during the pandemic.
“Our connection to other people, socializing, and being part of a community is fundamental to protecting our mental health and we need to find better ways of tackling the epidemic of loneliness.”
They are holding three events in different locations throughout the week, with an ‘Open house’ event set for Wednesday 11th May.
The team will be present in Freshney Place on Monday 9th, Freeman Street Market on Tuesday 10th, with the ‘Open House’ event set for Wednesday 11th, 12-9:00 pm.
“So, during that week some of the Docks team will be in Freshney Place shopping centre (Monday 9th) and Freeman Street Market (Tuesday 10th) to chat to as many of you as possible, and invite you to the Docks Academy ‘OPEN HOUSE’ on Wednesday 11th May 12-9 pm.
“Reducing loneliness is a major step towards a mentally healthy society, so we want to open our doors, so you can meet, socialise and enjoy music or cultural experiences with others.
“If you (or you know of anyone) would benefit from a free, safe, and friendly social event please do come along. This may be daunting but we would love to see you pop in even just for a cuppa.”
Mental Health Awareness week will be on 9th-15th May.
