The Wanted pay tribute to bandmate Tom Parker at his funeral

Tom Parker’s Wanted bandmates carried his coffin into the church earlier today as his loved ones said their last goodbyes to the musician.

Hundreds of fans lined the streets to pay their respects as the carriage with Parker’s coffin was led by three black horses to the church.

Flowers arranged to spell ‘Tom’ and ‘Daddy’ were on display next to the coffin, with the band’s hit single ‘Glad You Came’ displayed at the service.

Parker’s bandmates Jay McGuiness, Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, and Nathan Sykes served as pallbearers.

George also spoke during the service, telling the congregation: “I could say so much about Tom. One thing I will always remember is his laugh. He loves laughing at people and we experienced that every day.

“He has left us far too early and we will miss him so much. The people outside, the people all around the world, is a credit to him you. Rest easy mate.”

Bolton-born Parker died at the end of March, almost 18 months after he revealed he had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.

Many paid their respects to the musician, with Brain Tumour Research tweeting: “We are thinking of Tom Parker’s loved ones, his bandmates from The Wanted and his fans on the day of his funeral.

“We remember Tom for his passion, intelligence & determination in the face of such adversity & will continue to remember him as we campaign for change.”

Tom is survived by his wife Kelsey, whom he married in 2018, and their two children Aurelia Rose and Bodhi.

Mrs Parker invited fans to watch the service outside the church on big screens, so they could share their grief and remember Tom.
