Scunthorpe Hospital Park and Ride axed

Scunthorpe Hospital’s Park and Ride has been axed; it has been announced.

The Park and Ride service alleviated parking hassle for those looking to visit patients.

Instead, people were able to park their vehicles on floors three and four of the Parishes multi-storey car park in Lindum Street, free of charge.

Park and Ride service users would then catch the number 9 Hornsby Travel bus from stand N in the bus station, before being dropped off outside the outpatients’ entrance, on Cliff Gardens and the main entrance on Church Lane.

Return tickets were only £1.40, a small price to pay for people wanting to eradicate the stresses of hospital parking.

However, as of Friday 15 April, Hornsby bus services between Scunthorpe and Scunthorpe Hospital were withdrawn.

HornsbyTravel’s website issued an apology before breaking the news, whilst also stating that “alternative services are available with other operators”

Speaking on social media, the Northen Lincolnshire and Goole Trust Foundation released a warning for people travelling to the hospital, saying:

“If you’re coming to Scunthorpe hospital this week, please note the Park and Ride service is no longer running due to the number 9 Hornsby bus being discounted”

“Patients are advised to use an alternative service – the following Stagecoach services run from the Bus station: 1, 1A, 7, 8 and 90”, they added.
