Leaked emails show protocol for Queen’s death

Official emails detailing protocol following the Queen’s death have been leaked by the Welsh government.

The conversation, which was marked as “official sensitive”, was sent to a number of people internally but also to a member of the public.

The email contained a letter from a civil servant, detailing concerns about a news organisation having confidential information.

Although the email was marked as official, the Welsh government said it “did not contain any operational information”.

A spokesperson for the permanent secretary, Andrew Goodall, who is the head of the Welsh Government Civil Service, said: “It was marked ‘official sensitive’ and should not have been shared.

“We take the issue of information and data security very seriously and this is now being investigated as a potential security breach.”

An investigation has now been launched into the leak.

This year marks the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and she celebrated the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne in February.

She is the first British monarch to reach the milestone.

The occasion will be celebrated throughout the year, including a four-day bank holiday weekend.

The 95-year-old monarch, who is understood to be triple vaccinated, has also recently recovered from COVID-19.
