Scunthorpe United chairman has resigned

Scunthorpe United chairman has resigned, it has been reported.

Peter Swann had been the Iron’s chairman since 2013, overseeing his club play their football in League One and Two.

However, this season the Iron have disappointed fans from the get-go, winning just four league matches all season.

Mr Swann leaves his club rock bottom of league two, 10 points adrift of safety with little hope of retaining League Two football next campaign.

In a statement, the club said Peter Swann has stepped down from his position with immediate effect.

“He will be making a statment over the weekend”, they added.

“We are delighted to announce that Lee Turnbull will be joining the Iron as our Chief Operating Officer”

“Lee will oversee the club’s operational procedures and will be taking on the chairman’s roles”

Updates to follow.
