17-year-old girl arrested in connection with Weelsby Woods theft
A 17-year-old girl is among three arrested in relation to the theft of three wooden carvings from Weelsby Woods.
Three sculptures which were reported as stolen last week have now been returned to their home in Weelsby Woods.
An investigation was quickly launched after the sculptures were damaged and taken from the park on the 26th of March.
Locals responded with outrage, labelling the incident a “mindless” and “abhorrent act of vandalism”.
Fortunately, Humberside Police soon discovered the sculptures hidden in a residential garden in Grimsby.
A number of arrests have now been made in connection with the incident.
Humberside Police have now confirmed that they have arrested two men and a teenage girl.
It is understood two men aged 18 and 22 were arrested.
Additionally, a 17-year-old girl has been arrested.
All three perpetrators have since been released on bail whilst Humberside Police conduct further investigations.
The force is urging anyone with additional information regarding the theft to contact their non-emergency number.
