Governments pledge to deliver broadband to everyone in the UK
The government is on a mission to deliver lightning-fast, reliable broadband to everyone in the UK and is investing £5 billion in Project Gigabit to ensure that hard-to-reach communities are not left out.
BDUK is developing a procurement approach for funding contracts to suppliers delivering gigabit-capable wholesale infrastructure.
“Review across 4 geographical areas which include parts of Lincolnshire to help identify premises that may be suitable for future public funding for gigabit-capable broadband.”.
“Building Digital UK is seeking information and supporting evidence from suppliers – about the presence of gigabit-capable broadband infrastructure within the project areas. If you have existing network coverage or plan to build infrastructure within the next three years, we actively encourage you to respond to this OMR.”.
Building Digital UK is carrying out an Open Market Review across 4 geographical areas which include parts of Lincolnshire to help identify premises that may be suitable for future public funding for gigabit-capable broadband.
“We wish to work collaboratively with industry to maximize efficiency, minimize market distortion, and achieve our objectives within a tight time frame. To do this, we must first identify the intervention areas which currently are not commercially viable, where no infrastructure exists or is planned to be built within the next three years”.
The Government has also promised to ‘Level up’ parts of the country and has announced various other investments, could we see all the promises put into practice?.
Further information and how to respond to the Open Market Review are available on GOV.UK – Project Gigabit– external site.
