More than two-thirds of UK adults receive booster vaccine
New figures suggest that the UK has successfully vaccinated over two-thirds of adults with a Covid booster vaccine.
Around 67 percent of adults (nearly 36 million people) have reportedly been given their third jabs as of Sunday 9 January.
In England alone, this adds up to over 29 million adults.
Figures indicate that almost 92 percent of UK adults (almost 52 million people) have received at least their first vaccines to date, over 43 million of which are from England.
Over 40 million people in England have also received their second doses.
This adds up to how the UK has double-vaccinated around 88 percent of residents so far (nearly 48 million people in total).
The news comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson reassured the public that lateral flow tests would remain free to use for as long as they are necessary.
Michael Gove also recently stated that the country is moving towards living alongside Covid for the foreseeable future as restrictions remain relaxed.
Some experts have expressed their hopes that any future Covid variants will continue to show milder symptoms, like Omicron, so that the nation can move towards a state of normalcy once more.
Evidence continues to show how receiving a booster vaccine lessens the effect of the virus.
The government is still urging people to get vaccinated in order to relieve the strain currently on the NHS.
