Several upgrades to Lincolnshire hospitals coming in 2022
The Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLaG) is working towards upgrading their Lincolnshire and Goole hospitals this year.
Their hospitals include Grimsby’s Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and the Goole and District Hospital.
Here is a list of the works the trust plans to complete this year:
January to March
Grimsby
The trust plans to open a new car park at their Grimsby location which will have two floors for both patients and visitors to use outside the main entrance.
Their old modular building is to be demolished further which was where their Critical Care Unit was held at Grimsby Hospital.
Scunthorpe
A new Emergency Department will begin to take form with the steel framework arriving in February.
Ward 25 will be completely refurbished, creating 14 single, ensuite rooms for patients.
Staff areas and other facilities will also be built on site.
Their MRI unit will be extended and a new scanner will be brought in early this year.
Goole
The site continues to become more sustainable by cutting their carbon footprint.
Old coal-fired boilers have already been removed from the location and improvements to
their insulation and energy efficient LED lighting are in place.
Works should be completed by March when they will be generating their own electricity from a new combined heat and power unit, the trust reported.
All
The Digital Services team are also cutting down on their use of paper and moving towards a digital system for all of their Lincolnshire and Goole hospitals.
April to September
Grimsby
Work on their new Grimsby Emergency Department should be completed by the summer.
Once they have moved into the new unit, they will start to transform the old A&E unit in a new Acute Assessment Unit (AAU).
Scunthorpe
Work will continue on their Emergency Department also.
October to December
Grimsby
Work on their AAU will not be fully completed by the end of 2022, but it should be up and running early in 2023.
Scunthorpe
Their new Emergency Department is set to be completed by the end of the year.
All
Their Digital Services team will be providing their clinicians at all of their Lincolnshire and Goole hospitals with a new Patient Administration System for easier access to information.
