Grimsby MP makes controversial comment on Number 10 Christmas party

Grimsby MP Lia Nici has taken to Twitter to share a controversial comment regarding the Downing Street Christmas party which took place last year.

The government and the Prime Minister have recently come under blast for the alleged Christmas parties that took place last December while London was in a Tier 2 lockdown.

Tier 2 prevented social gatherings, leaving many alone and missing their families over the festive period.

Many were also in hospital with severe cases of Covid, leaving friends and family unable to visit or say goodbye to their loved ones.

Now, Lia Nici has taken to Twitter to share a controversial opinion on the matter.

A tweet sent by Andrew Neil stated: “Russia has assembled a massive force on Ukraine’s border.

“Iran is moving back into the nuclear game. Chinas is rehearsing attacks on Taiwan.

“But the British political and media elite is obsessing about a Christmas party that wasn’t- or was.”

Lia Nici then replied to the tweet with an emoji of a finger pointing upwards, simply stating ‘this,’ agreeing with the sentiments of the original tweet.

The MPs agreement that the Christmas party is a small issue has come under blast for undermining the tragedy and heartbreak that many experienced during the last festive period.

One angry user replied to her comment stating: “So we should ignore crimes cause worse crimes are happening…. May as well ignore burglary cause a murder is happening.”

Another shared their thoughts on her comment tweeting: “[Lia Nici] always defends the government regardless, just look at her voting record. Always puts self ambition before what’s best for the country.”

The Grimsby MP has previously acknowledged the claims against Number 10, taking to Facebook to share her thoughts: “The PM has repeatedly stated that he has been told by senior civil servants that there were no rules broken by staff at No 10.

“He needs to find out the truth and if staff have lied, then frankly, they need sacking and reporting to the Police.

“The person who supplied this story to journalists should have reported any party (if there was one) to the Police at that time.

“Sadly, they clearly felt it more appropriate to hold their information for a year to sell to journalists.”

We have contacted Ms Nici for a comment on her tweet but have not received a reply.
