Grimsby’s Guy Martin to join Channel 4’s new Lancaster Bomber show
Guy Martin is set to join the Lancaster Bomber crew on a new Channel 4 show which honours the World War II air crews.
‘Guy Martin’s Lancaster Bomber’ will see the Grimsby man try out several different roles, including the pilot, the gunner and the ‘bomb aimer’.
The new show is set to air this weekend on Sunday 19 December at 9:00pm.
Locations such as the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre and Duxford Airfield will make an appearance in the programme as the former motorcycle racer takes to the skies.
He will also have the opportunity to show off his mechanic skills as he experiences life as a flight engineer.
Viewers will be able to see what it is like working as part of the crew in many fields, such as the role of wireless operator.
Guy will get to decode and relay Morse Code messages as one of many interesting job roles.
He will have the opportunity to experience more dangerous roles, such as the bomb aimer, also.
The adventure will take Guy on a journey to see what it was like to be Wing Commander Guy Gibson who led the Dambusters raid back in 1943.
He will be instructed by the last surviving Dambuster, George ‘Johnny’ Johnson, at the same site the original 617 Squadron practised in prior to the famous raid.
