Police appeal regarding St James’ Square Christmas tree vandalism
Humberside Police North East Lincolnshire are appealing to the public to help them find those responsible for the St James’ Square Christmas tree vandalism which occurred last week.
The incident took place in Grimsby on Saturday 4 December at 4:00am, mere weeks after it was first brought to the square, provided by Strawson Woodland at no cost to North Lincolnshire Council.
The light switch-on event only took place on Thursday 25 November, but without a ceremony.

The vandals proceeded to rip down the fencing around the Christmas tree which now only has half of its lights intact.
Members of the public were outraged at the lack of respect the culprits had.
Some even felt like they could not have anything nice in the town without it being ruined.
After examining CCTV footage, officers are looking for two males and a female to aid in their enquiries.
Humberside Police reported: “One of the males was wearing dark grey bottoms and a distinctive North Face jacket with a camouflage-coloured material on the top and a dark colour on the bottom.
“The second male was wearing a dark-coloured, hooded jacket, light grey bottoms and was carrying a light-coloured bag across his back.
“The female was wearing a dark-coloured jacket with a fur-lined trim and a large, light-coloured scarf.”
It is advised that, if you have any further information regarding the incident, you should call 101, quoting crime reference 16/119005/21.
