Paul Hurst wants to ‘take the game to Notts County’ in sell-out tie
Grimsby manager Paul Hurst is keen for his side to impress a sell-out crowd at Blundell Park on Saturday as they host Notts County.
The Mariners are looking to bounce back after a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Wealdstone in midweek and have a tough challenge ahead.
“We’re at home, we want to take the game to Notts County” Hurst said told BBC Radio Humberside on Thursday.
He is also looking forward to a sell out crowd on Saturday, saying:
“Some things in the game take care of themselves; sell-out crowd, big club in our league.”
He is anticipating a patient game with Notts County looking to dominate the ball.
Notts County have impressed in their last two game, securing a win against Stockport and getting an unlucky draw against Bromley.
The Magpies manager Ian Burchnall is looking forward to the test at Blundell Park, with over 950 Notts fans set to attend.
“This is what it’s about we’ve got to go away to Grimsby and get a result” he said after Notts County’s 1-1 draw to Bromley.
If the Mariners are to get all three points however, it will be without their talisman, John McAtee.
The forward pulled up on Tuesday night and limped off, following complaints after the Yeovil game.
Paul Hurst has confirmed that the ex-Scunthorpe man is going for a scan on his knee and will likely miss Saturday’s game., expressing concerns that it “could leave him out for some time”.
Meanwhile, Harry Clifton should be available again after missing out in midweek but may not start as the manager has yet to discuss those plans with the versatile home-grown midfielder.
