Grimsby Falcons flying into second game since COVID shutdown

The Grimsby Falcons are preparing for just their second game since their Coronavirus-forced shut down last year.

They play Peterborough Predators at the Grimsby ice rink on Saturday with a 4pm face off.

Entry to the game is free of charge, with refreshments available at the rink.

It is only their second game back since lockdown, and only returned to occasional training in May.

They played their first match last month, beating Cheshire Pistons 25-4.

The Falcons will hope to carry on this fine form when they face Peterborough Predators on Saturday.

Founded in 2018, are one of the only ice hockey teams in the area and are based at the Grimsby ice rink.

The players are thankful to be playing again after a gap of over 18 months between fixtures.

They are now looking to play more regularly and build a local fan base, player Dan Jefferson told Gi Media.

“I’d like it if we got a bit of a fan base going and came to our games when we’re at home and got into it a little bit and hopefully want to have a go themselves.”

As a recreational hockey team, they are open to people joining and hold beginner sessions on Saturday mornings.
