James Coppinger to play in celebrity football match for charity
Doncaster Rovers’ recently retired footballer, James Coppinger, is set to play with a selection of celebrities in a charity football match on Sunday 17 October.
The match will take place at 3:00pm at the Keepmoat Stadium, but doors will open two hours earlier. The all-stars will be playing to raise money for Niamh’s Next Step, a childhood cancer charity.
It has been set up by Sellebrity Soccer, a company that organises celebrity football matches in the UK for charity.
They provide support and advice to children with cancer as well as their families.
Approximately 100 children every year in the UK receive a diagnosis for neuroblastoma.
Only 30% survive.
The NHS is currently not being funded to research neuroblastoma in the UK.
Other stars reportedly lined up include: James Arthur, TOWIE’s James Argent and Dan Osborne and Calum Best.
Some ex-Eastenders actors, reality stars, social media sensations and more will also be joining the charity’s patron, Peter ‘Tubes’ Dale.
The founder of Niamh’s Next Steps, Chris Curry, told Doncaster Rovers: “It is phenomenal that high-profile names are taking part in this football match to help fund vital research into childhood cancer in memory of our courageous little girl Niamh.”
James Coppinger added: “I can’t wait to pull on my boots again in front of the Rovers fans at the Keepmoat Stadium.
“I didn’t get chance to say goodbye properly at the end of last season and to be offered this opportunity whilst being able to raise funds in honour of a wonderful little girl like Niamh was too good an opportunity to pass up.”
Tickets will cost £10 for adults, £5 for under 16s and OAPs and £35 for VIPs.
You can book tickets here or call 01302 762576.
Alternatively, you can contact the Club Doncaster Box Office which is open at the Keepmoat Stadium from 9:00am till 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 9:00am till 4:00pm on Fridays.
