Waltham Windmill’s 140th birthday!
On Saturday 21 August the historic and loved Waltham Windmill will celebrate its 140th birthday.
The windmill based in village of Waltham near Grimsby has a day full of fun in store, including free entry 10am till 4pm.
There will be an photograph exhibition detailing the repairs made to the mill, as well as a chance to meet the millers and a tombola with amazing prizes.
The newly refurbished Rural Life Museum and RAF Grimsby Exhibition will also be open to the public to enjoy.
GCMES trains will also be operating on the day, volunteers permitting. There will be a cost of £1 for all classes.
The windmill has undergone multiple repairs in recent years to maintain its historic features and to keep it open for public visits.
In December 1966 Waltham Windmill Preservation Society was formed, and began the task of restoring the mill. The Society continues to raise funds for mill maintenance to this day.
Free parking, toilets, refreshments and children’s playground are all on site and open for everyone.
The day promises to be fun for all ages and will celebrate the history of the windmill as well as all those who have been involved in its lifetime.
