Nurse found guilty after smacking woman’s bottom

Kenneth Brambles, an NHS nurse at Scunthorpe General Hospital, has been found guilty of misconduct and was suspended after smacking a patient’s bottom whilst saying ‘you naughty girl’, Metro reported.

According to reports, Brambles smacked the woman in front of a student nurse around 20 times.

The student nurse had been following Brambles for the day in order to learn more about nursing practices.

The incident occurred in February 2019.

Brambles was escorted off the premises as soon as the incident came to light and he has not been allowed to return since.

Metro reported that Brambles has since been “accused of ‘deplorable’ behaviour by a disciplinary committee” alongside his guilty verdict.

The Nurse and Midwifery Council (NMC) panel reportedly listened to a testimony detailing how the nurse was supposedly giving the unnamed patient pressure relief to prevent bed sores.

Reports indicate that, alongside the misconduct at work, Brambles had also concealed a drink driving conviction from 2017 from the NMC.

The NMC are a qualified regulator of nearly 732,000 nurses, midwives and nursing associates.

Their aim is to provide safe and efficient nursing and midwifery care for the nation.

After appearing before the panel, Brambles has been suspended for a total of six months.
