HMRC issues data on North Lincolnshire landlords
HMRC has released data showing how many landlords live in each county, city, London borough and town within the UK.
The figures also reveal that the total landlord population now exceeds 2.65 million people.
There are a total of 5320 landlords in North Lincolnshire
The Government has extended the restrictions on landlords using Commercial Rent Arrears Recovery (CRAR) to recover unpaid rent to 25 March 2022 which increased the total number of days’ outstanding rent required for CRAR to be used to 544 days.
Statutory demands and winding up petitions will also remain restricted for a further 3 months until September to protect tenants from enforcement action where their debts relate to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Landlords are expected to make allowances for the ringfenced rent arrears from these specific periods of closure due to the pandemic, and share the financial impact with their tenants.
The counties with the biggest concentrations of landlords are Buckinghamshire (35,220), Cornwall (32,980) and Wiltshire (26,420).
Conversely, the places with the smallest landlord population are largely in Wales and Scotland including Blaenau Gwent (850), Clackmanshire (1,070) and West Dunbartonshire (1,120).
Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng said: “Sorting out commercial rent debts will be key to enabling businesses to plan ahead with certainty and ultimately build back better from the pandemic.
“The new arbitration process will be underpinned by law, providing commercial tenants and landlords with peace of mind that Covid-related rent debts will be settled fairly, and with finality. In the meantime, I encourage landlords and tenants to keep working together to reach mutually beneficial agreements.
