By Police expand search for violent wanted man
Police have widened their search for James Thomas, 29, who is wanted in connection with a case of assault.
James Thomas, or Sam Smith or Jibber as he is also known as, is wanted on warrant after he failed to appear at York Crown Court in 2019.
A warrant was issued for his arrest and extensive enquiries have been ongoing to locate him since.
North Yorkshire Police (NYP) subsequently shared an appeal via BBC’s Crimewatch Live in March 2021.
They received a number of reports which suggest that Thomas, originally from Selby, may have travelled to Hull and may now be in the wider Humberside area.
Humberside Police are now assisting North Yorkshire Police in their search.
A spokesperson for NYP said:
“Thomas knows he is wanted and has been actively evading police since he failed to appear at court.
“So, we are re-issuing our appeal to anyone who has seen him or has worked with him or who knows his whereabouts to come forward with information.”
James Thomas is described as white, around 5ft 9 tall, of slim build with brown hair, blues eyes.
He has several distinctive tattoos including one to the front of his neck, a Joker mouth and nose on his left hand, a Batman versus Superman tattoo on his leg, and a pair of wings on his back.
