Hairdressers could stay shut until late April as Boris Johnson prepares to set out roadmap to freedom.
The country has been under Alert Level 4 rules since 20 December which saw people urged to stay at home, all non-essential retail closed including pubs, cafes, restaurants leisure facilities and ‘close contact services’ like hairdressers and beauty salons.
Boris Johnson will reveal Britain’s five-month roadmap to freedom on Monday – but it is set to be bad news for anyone desperately needing a haircut.
Reopening hospitality, including pubs, restaurants and cafes, is widely speculated to be the last step due to fears about the virus spreading more easily indoors.

Next month, at the end of which the third lockdown laws expire, stay at home message are expected to be lifted across UK, outdoor sport rules to be relaxed, with people allowed to exercise in groups and care home visits permitted again.
But gyms and hospitality will likely have to wait until April, with exact dates for the earliest opening to be announced in Mr Johnson’s restriction easing blueprint.
It could be May before pubs resume indoor service along with the rule of six, with the beauty industry and hairdressers hopefully are open fully open.
The reports come as the UK’s vaccination effort closed the week nearing a milestone 17 million first doses. The UK’s ‘R’ rate lingered below one for a second week running, as daily death and infection numbers continued a steady downward trend.
Officials announced on Friday the number of new Covid infections in the UK is shrinking by 3% to 6% each day.
