Humberside Police have released photographs of a cannabis factory where 200 plants were uncovered yesterday.

It was discovered on Caistor Road in New Barnetby.

A spokesperson said:

“A cannabis grow with approximately 200 plants has been found at a property on Caistor Road in New Barnetby.

“One man has been arrested and taken into police custody.”

This comes days after officers for Humberside Police’s Operation Galaxy seized £70,000 worth of cannabis from a property in Grimsby.

The task force, tackling anti-social behaviour and crime in the local community, was launched in October 2019.

It targets criminals across our area who are causing our communities the most harm, and is made up of detectives, officers and staff from various force departments – including major crime, roads policing and intelligence.

Chief Superintendent Darren Downs, the lead for Operation Galaxy said:

“We’ve recruited over 500 new officers in the past three years, meaning we’ve got more people on the street to protect the most vulnerable in our communities, tackle the issues that matter to you the most and engage with a purpose.

“As part of Galaxy, we have targeted and deployed both uniform and plain clothed officers to 15 hotspot areas which are known for higher levels of crime and antisocial behaviour.

“Engagement with you as the people we serve is a crucial part of ensuring this operation’s success, which is why our NPTs are now more highly visible and door knocking in areas where warrants are taking place, to update you on the action taken and that we are not letting criminals resume their activity.”

Two people responsible for a sophisticated cannabis factory concealed in a former Grimsby bank have also been jailed this week.

Evaldas Medelis, 29 and Laminonas Navickas, 23, both admitted to the production of cannabis.

They were each handed prison sentences of three-and-a-half years.
