Cabinet approves new contract for Engie

North East Lincolnshire Council’s Cabinet has approved proposals to extend the current agreement with Engie for an additional three years.

The service delivery contract, which has been in place since July 2010, has now been extended from the original end date of 2022, to 2025.

Engie Services Ltd are responsible for delivering the regeneration and infrastructure services for the Council within the North East Lincolnshire borders and have several similar contracts with other local authorities.

As with any other contract, this agreement is subject to regular reviews. The latest review had been requested by a cross-party, political and officer, working group in 2018.

The council said that as a result of that review, in November 2019, various changes were made to the agreement to “strengthen governance and improve performance within the financial envelope for the contract”. The authority added that since those changes, progress had been made in a number of areas.

Cllr Philip Jackson, Leader of North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “Since the review, there has been a robust improvement plan in place which has been monitored by portfolio holders and scrutiny, and has been successfully implemented.

“We have reshaped the relationship with Engie Services Ltd to make sure that the Council’s strategies and plans for growth are understood and followed.

“The partnership has worked particularly well in this last year as we responded to COVID, and looking forward, we have further aspirations for strong growth across the borough. Being supported to deliver our local services is a very important aspect of that.”

He added: “This extension will give our two organisations the certainty they need for the next few years as we look towards greater working with Lincolnshire and understanding what that might mean, working within the local government budget framework, and assessing the progress of the partnership for the future.”

Nicola Lovett, CEO for Engie UK & Ireland, said: “Over the last ten years, we have built a solid and successful relationship with North East Lincolnshire Council and we are pleased to be offered an opportunity to build on this for an additional three years.”
