Three people rescued from sandbank at high tide
Cleethorpes RNLI was called out by a worried mum whose son and two friends were trapped in the dark on a sandbank on one of the largest tides of the month.
It was high tide when the drama happened at 7pm last night.
A Cleethorpes RNLI spokesperson said: “We were called out at 7pm yesterday after a 999 call from a worried mum whose son, along with two friends, was trapped in the dark on the sandbank behind Cleethorpes Leisure Centre, at high tide on one of the largest tides of the month.”
“Using the information provided by mum, and with the help of the torch function on their phones, we were able to quickly find them and bring them back to shore to be reunited with their families.”

Cleethorpes RNLI reminded people: “Our volunteers are still here, throughout the pandemic and lockdown, and are working harder than ever to keep themselves, and those they rescue, safe from the coronavirus.
“Your donation will help them ensure they have the resources they need.”
