Joe Wicks raises more than £1m for Children in Need with 24-hour workout

Celebrity fitness coach, Joe Wicks, has raised more than £1m for Children in Need after completing a 24-hour charity workout.

Throughout the 24-hour workout session, Wicks did a range of activities including cycling, yoga, boxing, rowing and his signature high-intensity workouts. He was joined virtually by a host of celebrity guests including Louis Theroux, Sam Smith and Mel C.

Wicks became known as “The nation’s PE teacher” after the 34-year-old led free fitness classes on social media throughout the first lockdown for children and parents. His efforts were rewarded with an MBE in the Queens delayed birthday honours list last month.

Speaking to journalists, Wicks said, “2020 has been a challenging year for us all, so what better way to end it than by raising money for BBC Children in Need, a charity very close to my heart.”

Wicks has previously spoken about the challenges of growing up with a father who was addicted to heroin.
