About the role
They are currently recruiting for a Business Intelligence Engineer to implement, maintain and support a stable, reliable reporting platform to the business, identifying and developing improvement opportunities.
You will create and maintain key business-level BI suites and provide operational-level staff with the training and support they need to produce and manage their own BI, using approved tools.
Working within the Business Intelligence team, this role is responsible for taking the lead in the introduction, management and regular review of a fit-for-purpose BI reporting platform. This will enable accurate, reliable reporting across the business, combining data from multiple sources.
You will also encourage self-service reporting by delivering training and supporting users and work with the BI Engineer to produce and maintain a suite of standard reports using a consistent BI toolset, including statutory returns and Business Performance reporting.
The Senior BI Engineer role is about engagement with people, representing the ICT and BI teams on projects and working groups and working closely with individuals where needed. You will be approachable and positive, able to deliver a strong message in an engaging way to a wide and varied audience. Commitment from staff at all levels is essential, so a passion for the subject and ability to win people over is needed.
Key customers of the BI team include the Director of Customer Experience, Head of Performance and Planning and Head of Risk and Assurance, as well as the Executive team, the Board and teams and managers from all areas of the business. You will communicate confidently with all customers, adjusting their approach to deliver messages in an open and understandable way. The Senior BI Engineer will need to fulfil conflicting, high priority requirements alongside day-to-day needs.
As a Senior Engineer within the ICT team, you will deputise for the BI Manager during absence, representing the team as well as undertaking day to day workload management.
About you
It is essential that you have a Degree-level qualification, or equivalent professional experience, in Business Analytics or related subject.
Significant experience of delivering technical Business Intelligence services in a corporate environment to a range of recipients is required for this role along with experience of providing training and knowledge transfer to colleagues to support their learning and development.
You will have proven ability to deliver multiple pieces of work to strict deadlines with high levels of accuracy and quality and be able to spot opportunities for improvement, thinking operationally, tactically and strategically.
You must have an aptitude for creative problem solving, finding innovative solutions to remove or overcome obstacles in simple, cost-effective ways.
If invited to interview, you will be asked to supply some examples of your work (where IP permits) and also give a 15 minute presentation on your approach to defining a Data Model within the business.
