About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated software developer or IT professional to specialise in DevOps at BGS. As a junior DevOps Platform Engineer you will have a varied role building and maintaining the platform infrastructure that underpins our research software development projects. With over 100 staff actively writing code across the organisation, you will also be there to support staff to use the latest DevOps best practices in a wide range of geoscientific research projects.

You will also help automate and streamline our operational processes by building and maintaining tools for deployments, looking after our Continuous Integration/Delivery pipelines and maintaining our development, staging and production environments.

By joining our world leading environmental research organisation, you will be working with and mentored by an established team of passionate IT professionals offering great potential for development and promotion as well as exposure to and on the job training in the latest tools and industry best practice.
