By Ed Sheeran confirms he is a dad – and announces unusual name
Singer Ed Sheeran has announced the birth of his first child – and picked an unusual name.
Revealing the happy news on Instagram, in his first social media post since December, the star said his wife, Cherry Seaborn, gave birth to a baby girl last week.
They have named her Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.
In a message to fans Ed wrote: “Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter – Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.
“We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here.”
He added: “We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x”
In his post, Sheeran shared a snap of a pair of baby socks and a blanket.
The Instagram message received more than 500,000 likes – including one from David Beckham – within an hour of being posted.
Sheeran, 29, has always kept his relationship with Seaborn private, confirming in 2019 that they had got married but giving no further details.
