intu Watford reveals plans to reopen non-essential stores
intu Watford have revealed their updated plans to begin to reopen non-essential stores in June.
The firm says it’s preparing to reopen stores in its Watford centre by using a one-way social distancing system as lockdown restrictions are eased.
The shopping centre giant announced its plans to slowly open up its stores in the town centre, after the government stated yesterday that all non-essential shops would be allowed to reopen in England from June 15.
Restrictions will limit the amount of people and cars in the centre at a time.
Staff will be provided with personal protective equipment and training.
There will be deep cleaning of areas such as escalators, toilets and keypads.
Hand sanitation stands will also be available at entrances and other locations throughout the centre.
As intu Watford reveal their updated plans to begin to reopen non-essential stores in June, CEO Matthew Roberts said:
“We know that a lot of you will be feeling anxious about going out shopping again. We are doing everything we can to make that feel less scary and as safe as possible.
“So, when the time is right, we will be sharing this detail with you so you can see the steps we are taking, and the steps we will need you to take to keep everyone safe.
“As such we have a specialist task force drawing on our colleagues experience from across the business who have been working together to create detailed and adaptable plans to support this process.
“We have looked at every element of what we need to do to run our centres as safely as possible.
“We have common principles across the business that have guided our decisions and each centre has its own unique plan ready to be enacted when it is safe to do so.”
