By Nearly 200 Covid-19 patients discharged in Doncaster
NHS staff at a hospital under the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS trust, which has discharged nearly 200 Covid-19 patients, have offered words of encouragement on social media.
Healthcare workers at the trust said:
“We wish every one who is at home recovering from Covid-19 the very best, as well as those who are currently battling this horrible virus. Together we will win.”
The South Yorkshire trust has treated about 400 patients with coronavirus.
New figures released by the Care Quality Commission have revealed that at least 11 more people have died from Covid-19 while in Doncaster care homes.
According to the latest set of figures, released by NHS England yesterday afternoon, there have now been 107 deaths in the Doncaster hospital trust area, bringing the total number of people to die in Doncaster’s hospitals and care homes to 118.
Across South Yorkshire, 216 lives have been lost to coronavirus while in care facilities.
The national coronavirus death toll now stands at 21,750.
The UK is now in its seventh week of lockdown. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he will announce the country’s exit strategy in Sunday.
It is thought that some lockdown restrictions could be lifted in early to mid-May, after it was announced that the UK has passed the peak of its coronavirus outbreak.
During a Downing Street press conference on 16 April, Dominic Raab, deputising for Boris Johnson, said that the lockdown measures will remain in place for at least three more weeks, or up until May 7th.
He also set out five tests that must be met before the government would consider lifting measures.
It has also been announced that the UK now has the highest coronavirus death toll in Europe, and the second worst worldwide, after the USA.
