By A message to Doncaster from South Yorkshire Police
South Yorkshire Police have issued a statement and message regarding the ongoing Covid-19 lockdown to the people of Doncaster.
Britain is now in its sixth week of lockdown.
For many, this prolonged period of isolation is becoming increasingly difficult. But, Officers for South Yorkshire Police say that they are there to reassure members of the public that you’re not alone, and that “we’re all in this together, and if you or somebody you know are struggling there is support available.”
Officers for Doncaster Central’s Neighbourhood Policing Team have been routinely patrolling the Hexthorpe area on horseback, conducting enhanced patrols including road checks, leafleting and taking the opportunity to make sure that the local community know where they can access all the support and guidance they need to ensure that they stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.
Neighbourhood Inspector for Doncaster Central Mark Payling explains:
“Officers from my team are out and about in Hexthorpe and surrounding areas most days, and I know they will join me in saying a huge ‘thank you’ to all those who have adapted their day to day lives as best they can to ensure they’re following government guidelines in relation to COVID-19. I know it’s been tough.
“I also understand that there has been some concern around those in the community who are not being seen to observe social distancing guidance. My team are working hard to engage with these groups in several different ways; from distributing information leaflets to using telephone translation services and building relationships with key members of the community.
