By Police appeal to public ahead of good weather
With increasingly good weather, and a heatwave expected this weekend, Doncaster’s District Commander, of South Yorkshire Police, are appealing to the public, urging residents of the town to adhere to government social distancing measures and remain at home.
Chief Superintendent Shaun Morley said:
“I am so appreciative and grateful for the support of the communities of Doncaster, who have overwhelmingly chosen to listen to the government’s guidelines and stay safely at home, supporting the vitally important work of our NHS and in turn, helping to save lives.
“I know the weather this week has been warm and sunny, with the weekend also promising some good weather, but please do not let the temptation to go out and enjoy the warmer weather ruin the weeks of dedicated effort you and so many others have contributed.
“It is going to be hard work, I’m not pretending that it won’t be, it’s incredibly difficult and I share those feelings with you. It is hard not being outside making the most of the sunshine, which can be quite a rare sight!
“I am also keenly aware of the impact that the current restrictions place on individuals, couples and families across Doncaster. Being unable to see your friends and family, not spending time with those you love – it’s upsetting and I know it’s causing many of us to be anxious and sad.
“However, we have to remember that what we are sacrificing now, the efforts we make now, will only help us in the long-term. We must all work together in this and I am so proud of Doncaster for the community spirit you have demonstrated.
“There are many ways you can enjoy the warmer weather at home without risking your health and the health of those around you. You can pass on the virus even if you don’t have symptoms, and that’s really important to remember – it is not worth taking the risk visiting family or friends when you could be carrying the virus.
