Fifth case of Coronavirus in Lincolnshire
A fifth case of coronavirus has been confirmed in Lincolnshire as worldwide and nationwide disruption continues.
Professor Derek Ward, director of public health at Lincolnshire County Council, has said that NHS officials will no longer be testing people in the community and will now only be testing patients in hospitals.
This latest fifth case of coronavirus to be confirmed in Greater Lincolnshire is in addition to two confirmed cases in North Lincolnshire.
As of 9am on March 15, 44,105 people have been tested in the UK.
38,907 have been confirmed negative and 1,543 as positive. There has been a rise of 171 cases in the last 24 hours.
Of those patients who tested positive, a total of 35 patients have died.
Meanwhile, airlines including Easyjet and British Airways are set to ground flights on an “unprecedented scale.”
Council meetings across the country have been cancelled.
Citizens Advice North East Lincolnshire have suspended all face-to-face services.
Citizens over the age of 70 have been advised to self-isolate, and the BBC have delayed TV licence fee changes for the over-75s until August in light of the situation.
Education secretary Gavin Williams is expected to meet with school leaders to discuss closures and exam cancellations. Many parents have kept their children at home regardless of the government’s decision for schools to remain open.
Further announcements are expected later today about the measures the UK is taking to tackle the crisis.
