By Lincoln man jailed after 110 mph police chase
A Lincoln man has been jailed at Lincoln Crown Court after a 110 mph police chase.
Myles Horton, 22, of Long Leys Road, Lincoln, admitted charges of aggravated vehicle taking, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, and failing to stop when required by a police officer.
Myles Horton took the car without permission while he was staying with his grandfather in Lincoln and set off to visit his mother in Louth.
Paul Mytton, prosecuting, said that police tried to stop Horton near to Ludford but he carried on:
“He went through Ludford driving in the region of 70 mph. The speed limit is 30.
He overtook a school bus at 90 mph and then narrowly avoided a collision.
Vehicles had to avoid him. The highest speed he reached was in the region of 110 mph. He then came into contact with a stinger device.
He lost control and hit a tree.”
Mytton said that Horton was arrested and gave a negative breath test, but told officers: “If you let me go I’ll probably just jump into another car.”
Horton headed back towards Lincoln and went through Wragby at 70 mph, going straight through a red light.
He has now been jailed for 11 months and banned from driving for a further three years and five months.
