Witness appeal after shots fired at house in Doncaster
Detectives in Doncaster are appealing for witnesses after shots were fired at a house in the Balby area yesterday evening (Saturday 11 January).
Between 9-9.15pm it is reported that an unknown man fired shots at the downstairs window of a house on Burton Avenue, causing damage.
Detective Sergeant Nina Jackson, investigating, said: “Just before the shots were fired we believe the suspect ran up to the house, banging on the window with a shotgun, startling a 34-year-old woman inside.
“Thankfully, she was not injured and managed to leave the house before the shots were fired.
“We believe the suspect was possibly travelling in a white van and we’re working hard to identify that person. Overnight and throughout today we’ve carried out house-to-house enquiries, speaking to about 100 residents, and examined the property.
“Burton Avenue is often used as a short cut route for drivers and pedestrians and I’d like to ask anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area last night to contact us.
“I’d also like to hear from anyone who saw a white van in the area last night, or who has any other information that they think could assist with enquiries.”
If you can help, please call 101 quoting incident number 857 of 11 January 2020. You can also report information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
