Former Cleethorpes player and Indian teenage batting sensation Prithvi Shaw, who became a favourite with supporters at Chichester Road in the 2015 season, has made a fantastic return to cricket following an eight month suspension.
Shaw, who celebrated his 20th birthday earlier this month, smashed 63 off just 39 balls against Assam when playing for Mumbai in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
The Indian batsman hit 7 fours and 2 maximums en- route to his 5th half century in Twenty20 cricket. He was playing his first match after being banned by BCCI for inadvertently ingesting a prohibited substance which can be commonly found in cough syrups.
He will now be intent on regaining his place in the National side where he made a debut century last season.
Meanwhile Cleethorpes overseas player for next season, Tian Koekemoer, continued his impressive start to the South African first class season. He scored 42 for Eastern Province, before being stumped, as his side continued their unbeaten start in the CSA Provincial One Day Challenge.
