A decade behind bars for Doncaster man

Less than an hour later, Dunn, who knew the victim, began throwing bricks at the window of the house on Wheatley Hall Road, Doncaster.

As the victim stood in front of his partner and children to protect them, Dunn, 25, proceeded to attack the property, along with a group of five other men, as Detective Sergeant Claire Moss explains.

“To try and stop Dunn from causing any further damage, the victim went outside to try and reason with him. As he did so, he was assaulted with a piece of scaffolding tube, rendering him unconscious.

“He was taken to hospital to be treated for a severe head injury and multiple broken bones. After being treated, we spoke to the victim who was able to identify Dunn and he was arrested days later.

“On his arrest, we also seized Dunn’s mobile phone, which showed a number of text messages talking about the victim’s windows being put through, and suggestions that he should get rid of his phone.”

Dunn, of Beckett Road, Doncaster, pleaded guilty to Section 18 assault at a hearing earlier this year in October. He appeared before Sheffield Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday 12 November), where he was jailed for ten years.

DS Moss added: “This is a significant sentence and shows the severity of what happened that night. The victim was left with some really nasty injuries which took a substantial amount of time to recover from.

“I hope knowing that Dunn has been jailed for ten-years for what he did can offer some comfort to him.”
