By Woman Fined Thousands After Tenancy Fraud
A woman was fined £8,531.44 after subletting her council flat and
being found guilty of two accounts of tenancy fraud.
For just under a year (December 2017- August 2018) the 57-year-old had
sublet her flat on two occasions without the consent of a landlord.
The act was a breach of the tenancy agreement.
She did not go to the Oxford Magistrates’ Court for the hearing on October 14,
however the hearing proceeded without her due to the council’s plea.
An investigation was launched by the council’s fraud team,
the idea of prosecution coming up afterwards.
