Beware watching your football team losing could give you a heart attack.
All football fans know the heartbreak that is caused when you watch your team lose.
But scientists are warning that the stress that is caused by watching football defeats can really damage your heart and even kill you.
A new study has found that fans who are on the losing side are 29 percent more likely to suffer a deadly heart emergency. Like a heart attack, angina, acute coronary syndrome or stroke on a matchday than at any other time. But supporting the winning side is linked to a 20 percent lower chance of a fatal incident.
It appears that men are more vulnerable than women. But the scientists think this could be because men tend to care more about football. The study also suggested that increased alcohol and tobacco consumption to try and relieve upset feelings could be a factor.
Men need to remember that even though it can be stressful watching their team concede a 90th-minute winner, it is only a game.
