A new report published by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary has concluded that South Yorkshire Police are “effective at reducing crime and keeping people safe”.
This report confirms the progress made by the force as only two years ago findings were that South Yorkshire Police required “improvement”. At that time, Chief Constable Stephen Watson claimed he would leave the force if things didn’t improve sufficiently to be rated as good within two years.
Mr Watson expressed his joy with this latest in report by stating “South Yorkshire is in the very top tier of best performing forces in this country. We have much that we still need to do. But this is fantastic news.”
