International cycling comes to Doncaster on Friday

Doncaster hosts the starts of two races in the UCI 2019 Road World Championships on Friday 27th September.

Both races start from The Dome on Bawtry Road.  The Women’s Junior race starts at 08:40am.  The men’s U23 race starts at 2pm.  They both finish in Harrogate.

It is the race organisers, rather than the Council, that decide the start times.

The race organisers have recently decided to bring forward the start of the afternoon race by 10 minutes.  As a result, all the rolling road closures have been brought forward by 10 minutes from previous times shared – but those in the link below are correct at time of writing.

As with any event of this size and significance, there will be delays on a number of Doncaster roads as the cyclists make their way through the area.

Information for spectators and residents can be found here

There are links to transport information in the same place but, if that’s what you’re after, you can go to it directly here.   This is where you’ll find information about race routes, road closures, public transport alterations, and parking restrictions.

Mary Vickers moved to North East Lincolnshire in 2010, from the Wiltshire/Hampshire border, to become Urban and Industrial Chaplain NELincs. Made redundant in 2017, she's maintained many of her connections within the business, faith, and other local communities. She's also decided to stay here rather than return to either the south or her husband's native Yorkshire, so that she can continue to enjoy and help promote the positives of NELincs.
