Woman’s body found and man arrested in Hessle

A man has been arrested in Hessle on suspicion of murder, after the discovery of a woman’s body at a house in Constable Street.

A lot of police activity has been seen in Constable Street since 7:30am this morning. Residents reported that several police vehicles, a CSI van, a fire engine, and an ambulance responder have been in the street at various times. A cordon was set up around one house, and later a forensic tent was set up outside it.

Humberside Police issued a statement at 11:50am to confirm that a man as been arrested:

An investigation has been launched after the body of a woman was found at a property on Constable Street, Hull shortly after 7.30am this morning, Thursday 19 September.
A man was arrested at an address in Hessle soon afterwards on suspicion of murder, he remains in our custody at this time.
Major Crime Unit Manager, Detective Superintendent Martin Smalley said: Our enquiries are in their very early stages but I want to make it clear that we believe this incident to be isolated with no threat or risk to the wider public.
The man is now in our custody while our investigations continue.

Police have also confirmed that a police cordon set up in Station Road, Hessle, is in relation to a murder investigation launched this morning.
