Ugh! more bacteria found on men’s beards than on dogs.

According to a new study, men’s beards are significantly dirtier than previously thought. researchers found far higher amounts of bacteria on beards than they did on dogs.

Researchers say that on the basis of the findings dogs should be considered clean compared with bearded men. The researchers took bacteria from 18 men using crumb catchers on their face. They then compared them to 30 samples taken from dogs. It was found that 23 of the 30 pups had high microbial counts in their fur. While all of the bearded men had high microbial counts. The beards were also found to be more likely to harbour disease-causing bacteria, including some bugs that cause urinary tract infections.

Researchers say that although the study is small it provides an interesting look into what might be considered clean. Meanwhile, experts say that men should clean their beards every day using shampoo and water. Also recommended is using beard oil to help keep the beard shiny and healthy.
