Festival of the Sky reaches amazing heights in its first year.

With the curtain now drawn on the first of hopefully many Festivals of the Sky, organisers are asking for your feedback.  In an unprecedented weekend of activity from Meridian Point to the North Promenade, events drew in an estimated 100,000 people to this extravaganza.

Organisers are asking to people to click here and leave feedback on the event so next year can exceed all expectations.

Event Organiser Julia Thompson said:

It’s been a year since the idea for Festival of the Sky was launched and what an amazing journey it’s been for CoastNEL, NELC and Festival directors, From the Fields. It has been wonderful to see such high quality, imaginative and fun performances and activities take place in Cleethorpes, and all for free! We wanted to create something special and unique, to celebrate the great outdoors and the Festival this weekend has delivered above and beyond anything I could have hoped for. From the high flying flame displays at Meridian Showground, to the groundbreaking Fire Garden, the dynamic, exciting parade as well as Astronauts, brass bands, big lips, kite making, birds of prey and the phenomenal Kite display to name just a few of the 80 performances and activities! A huge thank you to all the local businesses and groups who took part and a special thank you to everyone who came and supported the event. It was great to see Cleethorpes flying so high, the sky really was the limit at Festival of the Sky !

With local business looking to benefit from another great event in the Jewel in the crown of North East Lincolnshire the prospect of the same event next year has local business excited for the future of the resort with the ‘can do’ attitude that is prevailing on the back of all the regeneration work and funding that is taking place across the Borough giving a real sense of optimism to what the future can bring.

One local trader said:

Normally this time of year is quiet with all the kids going back to school and the change in weather, this marvellous event is not just about the money it generates, but gives a sense of what can be done when the Council and Business come together.

We take a look back at some of the amazing pictures and events of festival of the Sky 2019

From Kites to Carnivals and Fire Gardens to Street Performers this event had it all.  Send us your pictures on details below
