Baliffs to remove Travellers

Travellers are causing disruption at the Port Of Grimsby today.

After setting up camp over the weekend a small group of Travellers have set up camp directly in front of the ABP Port office.

This follows a recent camp set up on Haverstoe Park on Council run land, however as this is private land ABP have acted swiftly and are in the process of having Bailiffs move in to legally evict the Travellers.

It is unclear why they choose such a prominent position.

Dafydd Williams, Head of Communications & Corporate Affairs for ABP Humber, says: “We can confirm that travellers have set up in the car park of our offices in the Port of Grimsby. The Port is a very busy area and the offices support the operations that underpin many jobs for the local community and we therefore cannot have the car park occupied in this way. We have instructed bailiffs to act on our behalf to ensure the swift and legal removal of the travellers, just as we did recently in a similar incident in the Port of Hull which ended very quickly after their arrival.”
