A new, dedicated webpage giving community groups a platform to showcase the work they are doing has been launched yesterday.
Community Spotlight is a live, interactive page on North East Lincolnshire Council’s website, providing an information base for local community groups to use.
Groups will be able to add their events and activities to a public calendar so that the wider community can get involved.
There is also the opportunity for groups to showcase who they are and what they do in a short video which will be filmed by the council’s communications team to give them a chance to reach out for support. This will be added to the webpage.
There is an information section covering various information such as advice on holding an event (with a link to ESAG), links to local organisations who support voluntary and charity organisations and a link into information showing open funding streams.
Councillor Ron Shepherd, portfolio holder for safer and stronger communities, said: “Community groups are a great asset to North East Lincolnshire and we appreciate all that they do for the people in their local area.
“A lot of our community groups do fantastic work but don’t get the recognition they deserve and may sometimes need further support from the communities they serve.
“As a council, we want to ‘shine a light’ on these groups and give them a platform to raise their profile and seek support if they wish. We want community groups to own it.
“The Community Spotlight webpage is a one-stop shop where groups can go for information and seek advice.”
Sarah Hagerup from Climb4, which is based at Central Hall, Grimsby, added: “This is an excellent opportunity for Climb4. There are still a lot of people that don’t know about us and we do support a lot of people in the area, particularly with our volunteering programme.
“Anyone joining us will not do just one thing. They will get to build a variety of skills.
“We’ll do anything we can to get people opportunities in the future and move them forward in some way.”
