Top clubs descend on Cleethorpes Cricket Clubs Chichester Road Ground on Sunday

The top clubs from not only Lincolnshire, but Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire, descend on Cleethorpes Cricket Clubs Chichester Road Ground on Sunday.

Four sides will be contesting a place in the last 16 of the Vitality t20 national competition.

There are 8 venues staging area finals on Sunday and the Cleethorpes Club is extremely proud to have been chosen as one of them. The competition is the highest level cricket clubs can reach in this format of the game and entry is limited to ECB Premier League sides.

On Sunday the first of the three games will commence at 10 a.m. when Bourne meet Sheffield Collegiate. Former Grimsby player Steve Crossley is expected to be in the Bourne XI while the Sheffield side, who are presently placed second in the South Yorkshire Premier League, need no introduction to the Chichester Road faith full.

Cuckney Cricket Club, whom reached round 5 of the national 40 over competition before losing at Ormskirk last Sunday, meet Denby in the second game which is expected to begin at approximately 1 p.m. Cuckney finished last season as runners up in the Nottinghamshire Premier League and have in their side former Cleethorpes players Tom and Nick Keast, and Alex Willerton.

Denby Cricket Club, like Cuckney, will be making a first appearance at Chichester Road, and the Derbyshire Premier League side will be keen to make an impression as representatives of their league. This season they are more than holding their own, and presently sit 5th in their league table.

This event, which is contested using pink cricket balls, and often gives pleasure to lovers of big hitting, will give local enthusiasts a rare opportunity to compare the different standards of the leagues involved.

It is expected the final, between the winners of the two earlier games, will commence at 4 p.m. and admission for spectators, and cars, is free.
