Culvert repair works start next week

Works to repair a culvert which runs under Thoroughfare road, between the villages of Ashby cum Fenby and Waithe, just off the A18 Barton Street, will start next week.

It was picked up during a routine inspection that the culvert was damaged and in need of repair. Culverts are critical water pipes or “tunnels” which are situated under a road or railway to allow water to continue to flow from one side to the other.

Thoroughfare will be closed from Monday 3 June until Friday 14 June to allow for the works to be carried out. The current damaged “tunnel” will need to be removed and replaced before this area of road is reconstructed.

The closure will be limited to the area where the culvert is located, however it means there will be no access for through traffic.

Advanced warning signs will be put out and a signed diversion route in place during the closure.

North East Lincolnshire Council and its partner ENGIE would like to apologise in advance for any disruption caused during the works.
