Another century went flying in this week in The T. R. Carpets Grimsby Snooker League Singles as Gary Challis became the fourth centurion of the season so far. Playing for Fardel Shipping in the Premier Sectionand paired against Martyn Shaw of T.R. Carpets, he lost his first frame on the black before bouncing back with a fabulous 103 clearance in his second. The leaders went on to win the match 6-2 as Alan Robertson won the Carpets other frame against Jamie Green, and Paul Clark and Mick Ponsonby both won 2-0.
Second in the table Clee Cons A entertained Hainton B and were a black ball away from a slam as Neil Russell snatched a frame against Pete Mitchell. This apart, there were no such problems for Luke Maddison, James Richardson and John Parker who all won comfortably.
Clee Cons Slotters went down 5-3 at Westlands B when Mick Thornton and Tim Gillin both won two and Tony Aisthorpe shared with Jon Steel. Cons 2-0 winner was Scott Gibbins.
Willows Sea Foods put seven past Cromwell Rat Pack when Daz Barraclough, Stu Swinburn and Ryan Milson all won 2-0 and Mike Rouse shared with slam-saver Sean Carlile.
Cromwell A also hit seven as Abs Momin, Matty Lawton and Ian Taylor all won two and Pete East shared with Hainton A’s Tony Storr.
West End A went one better at Clee Cons as Jonno Webster, Mark Graves, Craig Rowbotham and Steve Green all won 2-0 in an 8-0 drubbing.
Blossom Way A, the leaders in Section A, were involved in a local derby against their B team and came out with a narrow 5-3 victory. Paul Simpson and Daz Edwards were the 2-0 winners for the top team whilst Steve Neul shared with Phil Robinson. The B team’s 2-0 winner was John Hill.
Clee Bowls X sneak into second spot following a 7-1 thrashing of Ray Edmonds S. Andy Forward saved the whitewash for the S team when sharing with Mike Emerson whilst Steve Crane, Brian Hotson and Ian Hogarth all won for the Bowlers.
2-0 wins from Daz Stanfield and Aaron McHugh, and a single from Cameron Dunlop against Brett Cattell, gave Steve Austwick Garden Services a 5-3 at Rapide Frames. Roy Ling was the 2-0 winner for Rapide.
Craig Smith won the last two frames for Rymo Plumbing as they beat Clee Bowls Police 5-3 at the Edmonds Club. Earlier, Ryan Johnstone, Simon Lidgard and Neil Sutton had shared with Johnpaul Teanby, Dave Stewart and Mark Stainton.
G.S.N. Westlands lost 5-3 at Standard All Stars when Mike Caborn and Adam Metcalf both won two and Dave Bird shared with Chris Gilliatt. Winning 2-0 for GSN was Matt Tomlinson.
Marcsmen ran out 7-1 winners in their derby game at Carr Lane E as Scott Ayres, Stu Sadler and Mark Phillips all won 2-0 and Dan Webster shared with Joe Goodfellow.
Hainton C caused an upset with a 5-3 victory against Nats B. Dan Webber and Tom Steer won the 2-0’s and Danny Chisnall shared with Nick Woods in a surprise result. Scott Templeman won the two for the Nats.
An opening 2-0 from Mark Stevens and singles from Keith Southwell, Mark Rimmer and Nick Mason gave Clee Home Guard a 5-3 at Ray Edmonds N. Winning a frame each for the home team were Anthony Hepton, Mike Reed and John Anderson.
Clee Cons C cling on to top spot in Section B after a 6-2 victory at West End C. Graham Thomas was the star of the night with a 47 break as he and Chris Farrow won the 2-0’s. Sharing the last four frames were Lee Pawson and Ryan Knox against Paul Dixon and Terry Steel.
Haslams Plumbing and Heating were too hot for Healing Mens as Chris Scott, Paul Grayson and Daniel Harrison all won 2-0 and Mike Reid shared with Oliver Kauss in a 7-1 result.
Cue World Comets keep the pressure on the top two with a 6-2 win at Cleethorpes Collectable’s. Michael Dent and Robert Hunter both won two and Terry Haigh and Blake Munton shared with Dave Johnson and Dave Jones.
Clee Bowls C produced a good result at home against Ray Edmonds B when Shaun Wilkin and Andre Desertaux both won 2-0 and Ken Payne and Rick Bass shared with Shane Newbold and Phil Marshall in a 6-2 win.
Another 6-2 came at Ray Edmonds G when Craig Allerston and Garry White both won 2-0 for Clee Bowls Y and Martin Dowling and Dave Richardson shared with Rob Mundy and Shaydon Walmsley.
West End D edge into a one-point lead at the top ofSection C after a 7-1 mauling of Cabbies. Shane Smith, Andy Warner and Mark Piercy all won 2-0 whilst Dan Smith shared with slam-saver Mike Newham.
The big match saw second placed Crommy Cats visit third in the table Hainton Hornets and come away with a 6-2 victory. Kris Hall, Shawn Mawer and Warren Fenwick were their 2-0 winners in response to a 2-0 from the home team’s Shane Crofts.
Mick Bird and Phil Revell won two apiece for Cromwell B but Matt Jones and John Ellison did the same for Rays Rockaz as the team’s drew 4-4.
An opening 2-0 from John Rice and singles from Shaun Hammond, Baz Haigh and Trev Blyth against Pete Gibson, Phil Evans and Jeff Leak, gave Nunsthorpe Tavern a 5-3 against Standard B.
