Locals frustrated as parks subjected to ‘mindless vandalism’

Locals have been left frustrated after parks were subjected to “mindless vandalism”

Yesterday, reports began to emerge pertaining to vandalism and criminal damage within two Winterton parks.

In a statement, the Winterton Town Council stated they would not tolerate such behaviour and plan to bring CCTV footage to the police in a bid to recover damage costs that “run into tens of thousands of pounds”

“Unfortunately, both West Street and Marmion Drive Parks have yet again been subjected to mindless vandalism by a small minority of individuals”, the council said.

“CCTV footage identifying individuals will be passed to the Policing Team and these criminal acts will be investigated with a view to recovering costs – these now run into tens of thousands of pounds”, they added.

“Those identified can expect a knock on their door”

“Where were your children last night and over the weekend?”

Local residents were quick to issue heated responses as on stated:

“It’s really not fair. I get kids will be kids but there isn’t an unlimited amount of money to keep repairing the parks. They will end up being closed or left unsafe”

“They should be named and shamed”, another suggested.

Meanwhile, one resident argued that the parents needed to be held accountable, adding that they failed to understand the mentality behind the vandalism.

The Winterton Town Council are now appealing for information that could identify those responsible.
