Closures continue amid Tollbar works
North East Lincolnshire Council have issued an apology for inconvenience relating to the ongoing works at Tollbar roundabout, as closures and delays continue.
Following years of controversial debate, works finally began in late July.
Works to the footpath on the north east corner are continuing, and the Northern PowerGrid (NPG) is laying a new high voltage mains supply.
An update issued this afternoon has confirmed that works will take 10 days longer than initially scheduled.
The footpath work is due to be completed by next Friday, 16 October.
The South West corner between Louth Road and Station Road will be closed for eight weeks from Monday 19 October.
This will allow BT and Anglian Water to undertake statutory utility diversion works and for the footpath to be rebuilt.
The A16 north into Grimsby will also be reduced to one lane while this work is completed.
A temporary bus stop and crossing will be located south and south of the works on the A16.
The council have confirmed that works to the footpath between the roundabout and the bus stop on the A16 will be completed during Tollbar Academy’s half term.
Road widening works on the south side of Station Road will be taking place from 2 November for approximately four weeks.
During the remainder of the works, which remain on schedule, pedestrians will continue to be diverted.
Motorists are advised to expect delays, and use other routes where possible.
